Living in Nashville

Home to the capital of Tennessee, Nashville sits on the Cumberland River. Dominated by the health care, publishing and transportation industries, Nashville is far more than just the home of country music, even though it is called "Music City USA." From Chet Atkins to Miley Cyrus, many music stars were born or made famous in Nashville; this diverse city is home to the Grand Ole Opry and the Country Music Hall of Fame.

Nashville offers countless parks and outdoor activities for the adventurous, and sports enthusiasts can cheer on Tennessee Titans football, or the Predators for hockey fans. The Pacific Coast baseball league's Nashville Sound, soccer's Nashville Metros and basketball fans root on the Nashville Soul. This unique city draws visitors and locals alike, to its film, art and music festivals, the Iroquois Steeplechase and The Country Music Awards. And since, Civil War history is the key to the city's tourism industry, sites of Battle of Nashville and the nearby Battle of Franklin and Battle of Stones River and numerous plantations hold a particular fascination.

For those interested in the cultural aspect of Nashville, the Tennessee State Museum; and The Parthenon, a full-scale replica of the original Parthenon in Athens shows a particularly unique side to the city's culture as do the Frist Center for the Visual Arts, Cheekwood Botanical Garden and Museum of Art, the Tennessee State Museum. From hopping honky-tonk bars to the Nashville Symphony and varied cuisine (hot chicken, hot fish and world-famous barbeque) to historical sites Nashville meets the tastes and interests of all.
